Army Dismisses Four Soldiers Fighting Boko Haram for Allegedly Violating Standing Order

Dismisses soldiers

The Nigerian Army has dismissed four soldiers serving in the North-East theatre of operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP.

The personnel — Mukaila Mutari (22NA/88/10253), Isah Emmanuel (22NA/83/7262), Kolomo Alex (24NA/86/5151), and Ibrahim Musa (24NA/86/0885) — were removed from service for allegedly violating a “standing order.” The specific offence has not yet been made public.

Photographs of the dismissed soldiers in desert camouflage were obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, indicating their dismissal was approved on Monday, November 17, 2025.

A standing order in the military is a long-term directive that remains in force until officially changed or cancelled. It remains unclear which particular directive the four men were accused of breaching.

Their dismissal comes at a tense time for the region, occurring on the same day Brigadier-General Musa Uba was confirmed captured and killed by ISWAP terrorists.

Last Saturday, senior military officials — including Operation Hadin Kai Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar — reportedly visited the Damboa base in Borno State to coordinate rescue efforts for abducted personnel following a violent ambush.

Earlier reports indicated that ISWAP fighters attacked a military convoy late Friday night, killing several soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The attackers, described as heavily armed and well-coordinated, executed what appeared to be a carefully planned assault, heightening fear and instability in the area.
