The US marketing firm handling the sale of Nigeria’s presidential Boeing 737-700 Business Jet has removed the aircraft from its website.
When checked, the jet—previously listed for months—was no longer visible. JetHQ’s Manager of Market Research, Laurie Barringer, confirmed the delisting in an email to The PUNCH, saying the company no longer has the aircraft listed and advised that further information should be sought from the Nigerian government.
The media aide to the National Security Adviser, Ismail Garba, had promised to comment but has yet to respond.
The jet was first listed for sale in July 2025 but remained unsold as of October 2025, according to earlier correspondence between JetHQ and The PUNCH. At the time, JetHQ staff confirmed the aircraft was still available but declined to provide additional details, calling such information proprietary.
Before it was delisted, records showed the aircraft underwent partial refurbishment and major C1–C2 inspections at AMAC’s Basel facility in July 2024, including upgrades to first-class seating and cabin carpeting.
A pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJ typically sells for around $56m, depending on its condition. The jet was purchased for $43m in 2005 under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and has remained part of the Presidential Air Fleet.
The Tinubu administration announced plans to sell the aircraft in July 2025 as part of a cost-cutting and fleet-rationalisation effort.
