The Nigerian military has stepped up land and air attacks in the North after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to deploy American forces to Nigeria over alleged killings of Christians. Trump, in a post on Truth Social, said he had ordered the U.S. Department of War to prepare for “possible action” and warned that America could halt aid to Nigeria if the Tinubu administration failed to act.

Meanwhile, rival terror groups Boko Haram and ISWAP clashed in Borno State, leaving over 50 fighters dead. The fight occurred in Toumbun Gini after ISWAP tried to retake territory from Boko Haram but walked into an ambush.

Troops also rescued 86 civilians in Dutse Kura after foiling a Boko Haram ambush and arrested 29 suspected logistics suppliers. Weapons, vehicles, fuel, and food items were seized, and a terrorist camp was destroyed.

In air operations, the Nigerian Air Force carried out precision strikes on terror hideouts in Borno, Kwara, Katsina and other northern states. NAF said the strikes destroyed camps, logistics hubs, and weapons stores belonging to ISWAP and bandit groups, killing several fighters and disrupting their operations.

The military says these operations reflect intensified efforts to counter terrorism across the country.
