Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen says he remains calm under pressure despite criticism over missed chances, noting that, “Sometimes I score, sometimes I miss.”

Osimhen, who bagged a brace in Nigeria’s 4-1 extra-time win over Gabon, said he has learned to stay composed whether he converts chances or not. In a video shared on Instagram by sports journalist @iamcalisports, he admitted the pressure of playing for Nigeria and Galatasaray but stressed his ability to correct mistakes quickly.

“Sometimes I score goals nobody expects, and sometimes I miss the ones people think I’ll score. But that doesn’t change my mentality,” he said.

After missing two clear chances, Osimhen apologised to teammates and promised to make up for it — a promise he fulfilled in extra time. He also praised the team’s spirit and thanked fans for their support.

The Super Eagles defeated Gabon 4-1 in Rabat, with goals from Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, and Osimhen’s double. Looking ahead, Osimhen said the next round will be tougher but assured fans the team will “give everything to reach the final.”
