Terrorists suspected to be ISWAP fighters on Friday night ambushed a Nigerian Army convoy in Borno State, killing several soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
The attackers, described as heavily armed and coordinated, reportedly abducted a serving Brigade Commander along with other troops — a development believed to be the first time a serving General has been captured directly from the frontline.
According to HumAngle, the insurgents launched a surprise attack on the convoy, leaving multiple casualties. The Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official statement or confirm the fate of the abducted officer.
Meanwhile, Senator Ali Ndume (APC–Borno South) has expressed deep concern over renewed terrorist attacks in his constituency. He revealed that four farmers were killed this week by Boko Haram insurgents while harvesting crops in Kwam village, Askira-Uba LGA.
Ndume noted that the killings were part of a series of recent assaults, including the burning of a church and public structures in Pemi and an invasion reported in Shikarkir, Chibok LGA.
He criticised the lack of sustained security presence in remote communities, saying the situation has emboldened insurgents to launch repeated attacks without resistance.
