The President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has sent his best wishes to Team Nigeria as they departed for the wrestling events of the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The contingent—made up of four wrestlers, Mercy Genesis, Damola Ojo, Christianah Ogunsanya, and Esther Kolawole—left Abuja on Friday. They were accompanied by coach Purity Akuh and the Federation’s Secretary General, Oluwasegun Ademisoro.

Before their departure, Adeniyi assured the team of the federation’s full support and encouraged them to deliver an outstanding performance. He noted that international competitions like the Islamic Games are important tests of Nigeria’s progress as the country aims for greater success at the World Championships and the Olympic Games.

Expressing confidence in the athletes, the NWF President urged them to remain disciplined and represent the nation with pride.

“I want you to believe in yourselves, give your best, and make Nigeria proud,” he said. “Ensure that our flag is lifted high in Riyadh.”
