Just a week after 38 worshippers were abducted in Eruku, at least 11 residents have reportedly been kidnapped in another attack on Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The attack happened around 6pm on Monday when 20–30 armed bandits stormed the community with cattle, shooting indiscriminately and forcing residents to flee. Bullet holes were later found in several homes.
A community leader confirmed that 11 people were taken, including a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers and several children. Seven of the victims are from one family.
The abducted persons include:
Talatu Kabiru, Magaji (6), Kande (5), Hadiza (10), Mariam (6), Saima (5), Habibat, Fatima Yusufu, Sarah Sunday (pregnant), Lami Fidelis, and Haja Na Allah (nursing mother).
Security operatives have begun combing the forest linking Isapa and Eruku, though officials admit the vast terrain makes surveillance difficult. Police say they are still verifying details.
The latest incident has heightened fear across nearby communities, marking the third major kidnapping in Ekiti LGA within a month.
