The Arewa Youth Ambassadors (AYA) have called for the immediate release of Musa Nura Aljan, a local hunter widely praised for assisting security agencies in fighting banditry across Northern Nigeria.
In a statement signed by Comrade Yahaya M. Abdullahi, AYA expressed concern over Aljan’s 45-year prison sentence, which has sparked outrage among residents and community leaders.

Aljan spent years gathering intelligence, tracking bandit hideouts, arresting suspects, and recovering stolen cattle. In 2019, he reportedly intercepted bandits on the Kaduna–Abuja highway, recovered over 1,000 stolen cattle, and seized multiple firearms. Known for rejecting negotiations with criminals, he has been hailed as a brave civilian contributor to restoring peace.
According to AYA, Aljan’s legal troubles began after he assisted in the arrest of suspected bandits in Bauchi State and handed them over to security operatives. Shortly after, he was arrested and later convicted.

The group described his imprisonment as “deeply troubling” and demanded:
Immediate release of Musa Nura Aljan
Independent review of his case
Public inquiry into his arrest and sentencing
Protection for civilians who collaborate with security agencies
“The North cannot remain silent when one of its bravest sons is jailed under questionable circumstances,” AYA said, reaffirming their commitment to justice and support for patriotic citizens aiding national security.
