A joint team of police officers and vigilantes has killed a suspected bandit during a gun battle at Adekanbi village near Bode-Saadu in Moro LGA, Kwara State.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday, followed intelligence that bandits were occupying a fortified hilltop in the area. According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the security team came under fire but responded with “swift and superior force.”
After the shootout, operatives recovered the body of a neutralised suspect, an AK-49 rifle, and 32 rounds of live ammunition.
Ejire-Adeyemi said the success reflects the directives of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, and aligns with the national security strategy of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The command assured residents of continued operations to clear criminal hideouts and maintain peace across the state.
