President Bola Tinubu has condemned the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba and other soldiers in Borno State.
In a statement posted on his X handle on Wednesday, Tinubu said he was “heartbroken” by the kidnapping of the students and the loss of the military officers. He prayed for the families affected and described the deaths of troops on active duty as “deeply depressing.”
The President said he had directed security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the abducted girls and respond decisively to the recent rise in violent extremism. He urged communities to cooperate with security forces, stressing that “sharing information can save lives.”
Tinubu also warned that those threatening national security “will face the full weight of the Nigerian state.”
According to RealityGist, gunmen attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu LGA of Kebbi State early Monday, killing the vice principal and a security guard before abducting 25 students. One student reportedly escaped as security forces and local hunters continue the search for the others.
In a separate incident, Brigadier General Musa Uba, commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade in Damboa, Borno State, was ambushed and captured by ISWAP militants during a convoy operation near Wajiroko village. The group later claimed to have executed him and other soldiers. Tinubu’s statement confirmed Uba’s death, describing him as one of the “brave soldiers who fell in Borno.
