JUST IN: Wike-Backed PDP Faction Summons Emergency BoT, NEC Meetings

Factional PDP chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammad (m), addressing the press.

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called an emergency meeting of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) for Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

The notice, issued on Monday by the factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and shared by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, announced that both meetings will hold at the NEC Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.

According to the schedule, the BoT meeting will start at 11:00 a.m., followed by the NEC meeting at 2:00 p.m.
The notice stressed that attendance is mandatory as “crucial matters will be discussed.”

This development comes days after the PDP, during its 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, expelled several top members—including Wike, Anyanwu, former National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade, ex-Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, and Imo PDP Chairman Austin Nwachukwu—for alleged anti-party activities.

The expulsion motion, moved by former Deputy National Chairman (South) Bode George and seconded by Bauchi PDP Chairman Samaila Buga, was overwhelmingly approved in a voice vote supervised by Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed.
